Announcements: Your Chamber in Action

Union City Chamber offers a "TRUE VALUE" for businesses and consumers.

Today's economy and high gas prices mean shopping patterns are changing. Many Union City residents are rediscovering local businesses and now you can help them "discover" yours by participating in the "Buy Local - Shop Union City Value Book" created to help promote local businesses by the Union City Chamber of Commerce and City of Union City.

With a target distribution of 10,000 your color coupon will reach more local residents at a lower cost than any other means and sponsorship by the Union City Chamber of Commerce and City of Union City means your promotional coupon will have credibility unavailable elsewhere. More importantly, the very nature of the coupon book means you will be reaching new potential customers through year long "cross-fertilization" from other local businesses.

Finally, all participating businesses will be listed in the Union City Chamber of Commerce's "Shop Local" web page with a direct link to your company web site. Since our "Shop Local" web page will be promoted repeatedly throughout the year your link here should prove worthwhile many times over.

Every effort has been made to ensure both small and large businesses are on equal footing -- coupon ad sizes are standardized (click here for form) and costs kept low so participation can be high for the benefit of all.

Color coupon ad size is 5.25" x 1.6" (see form attached).

Pricing is just $60 for Union City Chamber Members and $100 for non-members.

Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority

On behalf of the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority’s (ACTIA) Citizens Watchdog Committee (CWC), please see the 8th Annual Citizens Watchdog Committee Report as mandated by Measure B (transportation half-cent sales tax) legislation.

On July 31, 2010 the Citizens Watchdog Committee (CWC) of the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) released its Eighth Annual Report to the Public. The report notes prospects and concerns for the future and the effect of the economy on delivery of projects and programs. The report also notes that audited income and expenditures were in compliance with specific caps and that no accounting concerns were identified. Measure B, Alameda County’s voter-approved half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, received $113 million in revenue for the 2008/2009 fiscal year, the focus of the Watchdog’s report. Audited expenditures of $107.9 million were allocated to local jurisdictions, capital projects and administration.
